Research/Teaching and Therapy under a Single Roof
Establishment of the HanseMerkur Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf
On July 1, 2010 the HanseMerkur Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine opened an outpatient care unit on the grounds of the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. This is the first time a center completely devoted to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has united research/teaching and therapy under a single roof. The research approach ensures compatibility with the natural sciences, foreseeing the application of cytobiological, molecularbiological and biochemical and biochemical methods.
Among the goals of the Center are research into the influence and efficiency of TCM, further education and teaching for students, doctors and therapists, treatment using TCM in accordance with high standards and, finally, intensification of the city partnership between Hamburg and Shanghai.
Within the TCM Center is a non-profit research-oriented limited liability company. Here, German and Chinese doctors and therapists will be investigating the effects of traditional Chinese medicine both clinically and in terms of fundamental academic research. Treatment (diagnosis and therapy) will take place in an independent medical practice.
