TCM-Forschung

Am Hamburger TCM-Zentrum werden im Rahmen der klinischen und der Grundlagenforschung die Erfolge der TCM-Therapien untersucht

Im HanseMerkur Zentrum für TCM am UKE untersuchen Ärzte, Biologen, Physiker und Technische Assistenten gemeinsam die Wirkungsweise der Therapieformen. Die klinische Forschung zur Wirkung der TCM soll nicht nur beschreibende Wirkung haben und mehr sein als die Betrachtung von Einzelfällen. Um belastbare Ergebnisse zu erzielen, werden randomisierte und verblindete Studien erstellt. Mit Verfahren der Zell- und Molekularbiologie, biochemischen Methoden sowie dem Einsatz physikalischer Messparameter führen die Wissenschaftler Untersuchungen durch. Sie forschen über die Wirkungen der chinesischen Arzneipflanzen auf das Nervensystem, an der Haut und auf das Fettgewebe oder über neurobiologische Mechanismen der Akupunktur. Dies hat das Ziel wissenschaftlich nachzuvollziehen, was die praktische Erfahrung seit mehreren tausend Jahren zeigt. Im Fokus verschiedener Studien stehen Erkrankungen wie Parkinson und Polyneuropathie, Adipositas, die Effekte auf die Schmerzverarbeitung oder die Wundheilung. 

Erste Erfolge zeigt eine gemeinsame Untersuchung mit der Tongji-Universität Shanghai zu nervenzellschützenden Effekten von chinesischen Heilkräutern, die langfristig die Behandlungsmöglichkeiten bei Morbus Parkinson verbessern könnten.

Weitere Studien gibt es zu einem speziellen Akupunkturkonzept, das bei Patienten mit Polyneuropathie eingesetzt wird. Dabei handelt es sich um Nervenschäden in den Füßen, die z.B. durch Diabetes oder nach Chemotherapie entstehen und zu Schmerzen und Gangstörungen führen. In Kooperation mit der Hautklinik des UKE wurden die Effekte von Heilkräutern auf die Wundheilung untersucht; diese Arbeit wurde mit dem Bionorica-Forschungspreis ausgezeichnet.

In einer bereits abgeschlossenen Untersuchung, die gemeinsam mit der Unfallchirurgie des UKE durchgeführt wurde, konnten Soforteffekte durch Akupunktur bei der schmerzhaften Schultersteife (Frozen Shoulder) nachgewiesen werden. Gemeinsam mit der Neurophysiologie des UKE wurden Hinweise auf die Wirkmechanismen dieser Therapie gefunden; Akupunktur verändert die Verschaltung von Schmerzzentren im Gehirn und reguliert das vegetative Nervensystem. Auf Initiative der ETH Zürich sowie in Zusammenarbeit mit der Universität Genf und der Forschungsgruppe „Zellulärer Lipidstoffwechsel“ des UKE untersuchen die Wissenschaftler des Zentrums die Wirkung von Arzneikräutern auf Fettstoffwechselstörungen.
